Architectural Coordination: Bridging the Gap Between Design and Build

One of the most common friction points in commercial projects is the disconnect between the Interior Design team and the Architect of Record. At DIG, we bridge this gap through our “Architectural Coordination” services.

What is Architectural Coordination?

While DIG focuses on the interior architecture, finishes, FF&E, and spatial experience, we partner seamlessly with licensed architects who handle the structural and building envelope requirements. Architectural Coordination involves:

  • Reviewing Submittals: Ensuring that the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) drawings align with the interior ceiling plans and millwork designs.
  • Conflict Resolution: Identifying clashes (e.g., an HVAC duct running through a featured lighting cove) during the drawing phase, rather than during construction.

The DIG Difference

Because our model includes Implementation, we think like builders during the design phase. We produce detailed Construction Documents that speak the language of the general contractor. This reduces Requests for Information (RFIs) and Change Orders in the field. By acting as the liaison between the aesthetic vision and the structural reality, we ensure that the integrity of the design survives the construction process.
