Educational environments play a silent but powerful role in a child’s development. In our work with schools and early learning centers, DIG focuses on creating environments that support focus, collaboration, and emotional regulation.
The Third Teacher
The environment is often called the “third teacher.” A chaotic visual environment can impede learning. We utilize:
- Color Zoning: Using color to define activity zones (e.g., calm blues for reading corners, energetic yellows for activity areas) helps children intuitively understand behavioral expectations.
- Acoustic Control: Classrooms are noisy. We implement acoustic ceiling tiles and wall treatments to reduce reverberation time, improving speech intelligibility so students can hear the teacher clearly.
Durability meets Design
Schools face extreme wear and tear. We specify high-impact, scrubbable wall finishes and commercial-grade flooring that can withstand heavy foot traffic and spills. However, “durable” does not have to mean “drab.” By using creative patterns and warm textures, we create educational spaces that are resilient yet inspiring.
